Duties and Responsibilities of the Institute

Collect organize and analyze data for the development of the Mining industry and provide information to the actors and users of the sector as needed;
Prepare detailed project feasibility studies on selected minerals to promote the development of the mining industries and make it accessible to local and foreign investors: monitor and evaluate the performance of mining investment projects and provide remedies for problems encountered
Set up a support system that can accelerate the development of mineral industries products that have significant strategic importance and make them competitive; develop detailed programs and projects for implementations; provide support to those engaged in the sector.
Provide consultancy services and technical support to investors engaged in the sector to increase the quality and quantity of their products.
Conduct studies and research that make the sector competitive and support the development of the mineral industries; carry out the study of best practices; performs adaptation and dissemination
Prepare and provide technological, technical, management, and other practical training that supports the development of the mineral industry as needed
Collaborate with local and international institutions with similar objectives
Carry out research and induction activities in collaboration with concerned bodies to increase the quality and quantity of the mining industry
Provide laboratory and product testing services related to the mining indusury sector in collaboration with the Ethiopian Gological Institute;
provide prc-employmcnt apprenticeship placement on-job short-term and long-term training to introduce trainees with the latest mining technology and practices by designing the necessary training curriculum for the mineral industry in collaboration with the relevant authority ;
Support the creation of inputs and market linkage; conduct market research for the products of industry engaged in the sector;
Charge fees for services it renders in accordance with regulation to be issued by e Council of ministers ;
Own property, enter in to contract, sue and be sued in its own name; under take other related activities which are essential for the achievement of its objectives
